B.Sc. (hons) degree in Musical Instrument Technology |
Second class upper division (2,1) |
It was a three year full-time course, being trained in all areas of acoustics, musical research - local and world music, instrument history, design and management, early string instrument construction (clavichord, lute and vihuela) and aspects of analogue and digital recording and electroacoustic measurement techniques for instruments and rooms. I have thoroughly enjoyed the degree and eagerly aware of my new vocation, which may or may not be in instrument making, but will allow me the financial opportunity to research and build instruments at home.
Due to the level of research required for the dissertation and project, information had to be gained from 15th century music scores, surviving manuscripts, photographic evidence and iconographical evidence, so honing my skills in utilization of library services, whether university or the British Library.

Since April 2002, I have been placed at Redbridge Borough Council, within the Housing Department. My job there has encompassed both administration and Housing Assistant, dealing with the housing of the boroughs homeless, transfer and register. This involves client interaction and careful recording of what was said and that which is to be done. This is both on computer files and in memo/letter to other professionals involved in the case.
